Cataloochee
After our first day in Cataloochee, all we can say is WOW! It is almost like a Cades Cove that NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT! If you like Cades Cove, you simply MUST include this awesome area in your vacation itinerary. While filming the Palmer House on Monday - September 9th, 2002 at approx. 2:00 PM (which took about two hours) there was not a soul that stopped in, and we hardly noticed ANY traffic drive by!!!

Cades Cove
Cades Cove is the most visited part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park--and for good reason. The idyllic setting of Cades Cove is a sampler of everything the Park has to offer the Smokies visitor. Interesting Tennessee cabins, cabin rentals, and other pioneer structures dot this cove and tell the history of its early inhabitants. Wildlife is abundant. More than a dozen hiking and horseback riding trails originate in Cades Cove. The Smoky Mountains, which tower above picturesque Cades Cove, serve as guardians to the Cove's serene beauty; and the splendor of color when Mother Nature empties her paint buckets on the Cove's hardwoods in the Fall is unmatched! Cades Cove is home to trout streams to tease the fly- fishing enthusiast and campgrounds are available for those who want to live in Cades Cove--even if only temporarily. In addition, Smoky Mountain cabin rentals found on this web site gives the opportunity for tourists to hark back to the former inhabitants of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Sheffield Mine
Bring your lunch and play in the dirt! Warren will give you a crash course and show you what to look for. All the people at Sheffield Mine are so freindly, and they help you in your quest to find gem's. This webmaster herself has found 2 honkers and one squeeker.

Motorcycle Riders/Sportscar Drivers- Ride the Tail of the Dragon
TAIL OF THE DRAGON AT DEALS GAP, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America's number one motorcycle and sports car road. The nearby CHEROHALA SKYWAY is quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles of scenic mountain highway. The area also has other incredible roads like the DEVILS TRIANGLE, THE SNAKE, BLOOD MOUNTAIN, and some GREAT DUAL SPORT RIDING.

Linville Caverns
Located at the base of Humpback Mountain in the beautiful Linville Valley lies a natural wonder, Linville Caverns. After remaining a mysterious secret for centuries, the caverns have been opened for safe and convenient public touring. These natural limestone caverns feature guided tours showing spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Chimney Rock Park
Chimney Rock Park is a scenic attraction located 25 miles southeast of Asheville. The parks offers spectacular 75-mile views, numerous hiking trails, a 404-foot waterfall, Nature Center, picnicking and more.
